Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m curious if you and your husband were overly picky or not when it comes to partners. I think that the overly picky find it hard to find a mutually really-happy relationship because they have such a long list that it’s unlikely to ever find someone with all those traits that loves them back as much (unless the picky person her/himself is equally amazing). So, do you feel you two are fairly picky and just got really lucky or aren’t excessively picky or some other description? Your point about praising is important and there are two things that come to mind: 1) Most men praise from a position of neediness and implicit lower value. They praise from below with the hopes of ingratiating themselves to the woman. However, this needy frame of scarcity is at the core of most antigame and what is really turning women off and not the words per se. There are some seductive men who simply love women (in the plural, and infatuation might even be a better word) who praise women from a frame of strength with no particular angst about whether they’ll be rejected. It’s more of a putting it out there because that’s who they are and how they act and they’re not also putting their very ego out there to be crushed or accepted too. With a strong frame, they can put out the words and the feelings of admiration while holding onto themselves being the arbiter of their own self esteem.
